Best Ever Cinnamon Rolls

Tried this recipe today and best I have ever made or tasted. Enjoy!!!
Secret seems to be buttermilk and raising in a warm oven covered by a moist towel.

Best Ever Cinnamon Rolls~

Heat oven to 200 degrees and turn oven off.

In small bowl place

  • 1/4 C warm water
  • add yeast (one package)
  • Stir to dissolve.

In large bowl add

  • 4 Cups flour
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Mix flour, sugar, salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
(add 1 tsp lemon juice to the milk to make buttermilk)
Hint~ buttermilk makes a lighter, softer dough.
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • Add soft butter and yeast mixture to the one cup of warm milk

Directions

  1. Mix the liquid mixture with the dry ingredients.
  2. Mix well and knead until smooth.
  3. Put in a greased bowl and let rise in warmed oven (cover with damp towel ) for about an hour.
  4. Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface
  5. Roll out into a rectangle.
  6. Spread with softened butter and then sprinkle generously with brown sugar and cinnamon sugar.
  7. Roll up and cut into 14 rolls.
  8. Place in two greased 9 inch pans and let rise in the warmed oven again.
  9. Remove raised rolls from oven and heat oven to 400 degrees and then bake for 12 to 14 minutes until very lightly browned

Topping
Add 1/4 softened cup butter and one teaspoon vanilla to about 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Add a small amount of milk to make a paste that is thin enough to spread easily. Spread the topping on the rolls while they are still hot. Devour while warm!!
